BLOG Botswana’s Most Beautiful Places

Botswana boasts stunning scenic spaces teeming with enthralling African creatures and it can be difficult to decide where to start during your southern African safari. Here’s a list of our favorites for inspiration:

Being less visited than the big name southern African safari destinations such as South Africa, Botswana offers an exclusive safari experience in an unspoiled natural environment awash with lush wildlife habitats.

Okavango Delta

Stunningly scenic and unique, the Okavango Delta is one of Botswana’s best-known attractions, yet remains peaceful and isolated due to its remote location. Many unique opportunities for enjoyment may be found here.

Moremi Wildlife Reserve

Secluded in the heart of the Okavango Delta, Moremi is dominated by mopane tree forests and floodplains inhabited by wild dogs, lions, rhino, leopard, buffalo and huge herds of elephant.

Makgadikgadi Pans, Nxai Pan and Kubu Island

Zebra and wildebeest flock to these salt-encrusted flats, closely followed by their predators, to graze on the lush pastures found around here. Huge baobab tees and towering sand dunes add an eerie backdrop to glamping expeditions and guided walks, which must include a visit to the imposing crescent-shaped granite pillars which make up Kubu Island.

Kalahari Desert

Reaching up from the Orange River all the way to Angola, the Kalahari is a vast arid wilderness dotted with wind-shaped dunes and interesting stone formations. Home to the San people, these sandy tracts offer a peaceful, rustic adventure to the traveler looking for something different.

Linyanti Wildlife Reserve

This exclusive private reserve encompassing 308,000 acres centered on the Kwando River, is home to many lion and elephants and a favorite of the well-heeled safari enthusiast.

Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park

Straddling the border between South Africa and Botswana, this 3.6 million hectare reserve allows game to migrate freely between the two countries, doubling your options for great game spotting. Cheetahs, lions, leopards, hyenas, springbok, wildebeest and over 200 species of birds may be encountered here.

Chobe River

Easily combined with the Okavango Delta and Kalahari, the Chobe River is the crown jewel of any Botswana safari, with abundant wildlife to see including hippos, buffalo, cheetahs, crocodiles, antelope and huge herds of elephants.

Khama Rhino Sanctuary Botswana

Run by locals to conserve and protect the precious rhino of Botswana, Khama Rhino Sanctuary is also a haven for 30 other animal species and 230 types of birds - perfect for an eco-conscious camping trip during your visit to the country.
