BLOG Introducing ‘Visas on Arrival’ in Mozambique

Are you planning a Southern African safari including a stay at one of Mozambique’s luxury island retreats? Well, you can take Visa arrangements off your what to do and what to pack list.  Mozambique is now allowing visitors to arrange their visas on arrival.

This move is a result of tourist numbers to this African country increasing year on year thanks to the development of several high-end resorts and improvements in infrastructure.

Where to get in

The offer makes it even easier to add Mozambique on to your vacation from any direction, with most border posts offering this positive convenience. Visas are available on arrival at 44 points of entry, including:

  • Maputo Airport,
  • the Port of Maputo
  • Ressano Garcia
  • Goba
  • Ponto D'ouro
  • Giriyondo
  • Vilanculos Airport
  • Inhambane Airport
  • Beira Airport
  • Pemba Airport
  • Nampula Airport

Fly or Sail

Whether you are flying in on one of the daily flights from Johannesburg to Maputo or one of the regular flights from Durban to Maputo, or to Pemba from Nairobi or Dar es Salaam, you can take the easy way in. The same applies to travelers arriving on board one of the luxury liners which dock frequently on these shores.

Convenience at its best

The cost of a dual-entry visa (as of July 2017) is USD50 and it is valid for 30 days. They are available to all tourists visiting Mozambique, regardless of whether your country of origin has an embassy in this African country or not. This puts paid to a lot of the previous complications and confusion involved in obtaining a tourist visa to Mozambique. For added convenience, you can pay for your visa on arrival with ZAR or metical if preferred.

Citizens of Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, Swaziland, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe do not require a visa at all to enter Mozambique, but pay a small administration fee on arrival.

Opening doors for tourism

This move has been welcomed by the country’s tourism industry and is seen as a positive move towards sharing the delights of this often-overlooked destination with even more travelers.

It’s never been easier to tap into the luxuries of Mozambique’s white sand beaches and world class scuba diving. Get in touch to start planning an exquisite escape to Massinga Beach Hotel or Azura Benguerra today.
